Recorded presentations to be uploaded to University’s Unitube service
Recorded oral presentations and sessions from Lahti Lakes 2021 will be uploaded onto the University of Helsinki’s Unitube video sharing service in the near future. We now ask all oral presenters to inform the organizing committee if they consent to their presentation being uploaded and if so in which of the following categories:
- upload for unrestricted viewing
- upload for access to symposium participants only
Please respond by 31.8.2021. If we do not receive your response, by default we will not upload your presentation.
Abstract book published and online registration system opened

We are very happy to announce the publication of the abstract book for this year’s symposium!
Pre-registered participants should now visit the homepage of the meeting platform to pay the registration fee of €100 (+€3 service charge) and gain access to the platform. Undergraduate students may register for free.
Draft program published: please check your time!
Lahti Lakes 2021 will be hosted from the Videomakers studio in Lahti, with presentations both onsite and online. The organizing committee has now put together a draft program for the 3-day event. If you are a presenting participant, please see your scheduled time below and inform us immediately if you have a problem to make your presentation in the stated time slot. All times are given in Eastern European Summer Time EEST (UTC+3). Note that pre-recorded presentations are possible, but we prefer that you present live so that we can have a proper discussion after each talk. Therefore we have programmed the speakers with time zones in mind.
The program includes oral sessions and other pieces hosted from the studio, online chats following the oral sessions, and two fully-online poster sessions (see legend). Important: We invite all oral presenters from Finland to make their presentations directly from the studio in Lahti. Please inform us if you are not able to do this.
We will contact all participants about payment of the symposium fee during the coming weeks. The fee is €100 for regular participants. Student participants attend for free.

First info for presenters
We are delighted to announce that we received 55 abstracts for the symposium! All the submitted abstracts have been accepted by the organizing committee and will be programmed into the 3-day schedule according to thematic content. We will take into account the time zones of participants so that, for example, presenters from North America are scheduled later in the day to allow real-time participation in the symposium.
The symposium features three presentation types:
- Plenary oral presentation (45 mins + 15 mins questions)
- Regular oral presentation (15 mins + 5 mins questions)
- Poster + multimedia presentation (more information below)
Please see below to find the type of presentation you have been allocated and prepare your presentation according to the guidelines given.

Videomakers studio gets ready to host Lahti Lakes
Tom and Heikki from the organizing committee visited Videomakers studio this week to check out the options for our live-streamed symposium. Videomakers is a Lahti-based company with decades of experience of live televized events. Lahti Lakes will be hosted at the studio and broadcast via a stream to our online platform hosted by Liveto. We will invite presenters from Finland to join us at the studio, while presenters from overseas will participate via the platform with (hopefully) seamless interaction. We are very excited to be moving forward towards a great symposium!
